Kindness in Botswana

'Flame Lilly' is having quite the adventure in Botswana.

So far it has changed hands six times and has been worn by people from the ages of 16 to 50 years old!

There has been dancing, puppies, support, time with friends, forgiveness and even support for teachers when they are having a rough day.

"This week made me realise that being kind does not have to be a grand gesture. We can all show kindness in the simplest ways.

I would recommend not overthinking this experience for any future hoodie wearers. Just have fun and enjoy the experience."

Mukudzei

"I felt happy and jovial, I was never sad and appreciated the people in my life thanks to the hoodie and the wonderful messages on it."

Miriam

"One of my friends was having a bad week so this week I gave her extra attending, making sure he was eating, sleeping and going alight. This week reminded me that in this world we all need each other's support. I am glad I could help someone this week.

I was kind to myself as well. I was patient with myself and I forgave myself if I didn't do something currently the first time.

I realised this week that kindness really helps other people. It can help someone with confidence, mental health and change their mood when they are having a bad day.

It’s just a small act that can trickle out into bigger things. That can have a massive impact on someone.

I bit of advice for any hoodie wearers is to take much more than you expect away from this experience. Have fun learning with it.

I really liked drawing on the hoodie. It made me feel like a designer. I might even pick it up."

Kuhu

"I gave my friends lunch money and I helped my teacher with a couple of lessons because he was sick.

I enjoyed taking pictures in the hoodie, especially since I don't like taking pictures of myself."

"My favourite part, was probably when I got to write on the hoodie. I really enjoy creating and designing stuff, so it was really cool to get to do that on a hoodie."

Abigail

"I picked a very small puppy that had gotten lost, I took it to the Vet and it's all well now. I kept it for about two weeks until I found the owner.

I also visited a family that had been in a house fire and has no relatives in Botswana, managed to help with what I could."

Emildah

"I was reminded to be kind. Every time I passed my reflection and read what was written on the hoodie. "

Prisca
